Agentic AI: agents that do the work, not just answer

A chatbot answers questions. An agent gets the job done: it reads the situation, uses your tools, takes the next step and asks a person when it is unsure. We design agents for specific jobs, start them small and widen what they can do as they earn trust.

From answering to doing

An agentic system is AI that can act. Instead of only replying with text, it can check a calendar, book the appointment, create the record in your system, send the confirmation and flag the exceptions. Each step is a decision it makes using the information and the tools you give it.

That is useful and it is risky, which is why the design matters more than the model. The question is not only what an agent can do but what it is allowed to do, what needs a person’s approval and how you find out what it did.

Jobs agents do well

Examples of what we design. We scope each one to your business.

Enquiry and booking

Answers, qualifies and books, then updates your records. This is what Quinn AI does for customers today.

Lead follow-up

Notices a new enquiry, replies promptly, asks the qualifying questions and schedules the next step for your team.

Intake and onboarding

Collects the details and documents a new customer or client needs to provide, creates their record and chases what is missing.

Inbox and form triage

Reads incoming messages and forms, sorts them by type and urgency, drafts replies and routes each to the right person.

Operations upkeep

Keeps records current by checking systems, updating statuses and flagging anything that looks wrong.

Reporting

Compiles the weekly numbers from your live systems and writes the summary, so the report is ready instead of being assembled by hand.

How we keep agents safe and useful

  1. One job, narrowly defined

We start with a single task, a clear definition of success and a list of the tools it may use.

  2. Permissions, not trust

Every tool gets the least access that works: read-only where possible, and write access only where needed.

  3. Approvals for what matters

Anything costly, public or hard to undo waits for a person to approve it before it happens.

  4. Shadow mode first

The agent suggests actions while your team does the work, so you see how it behaves on real cases before it acts alone.

  5. Widen with evidence

We extend what it can do only as the record shows it handles each step reliably, with logs you can read and limits you can change.

Controls every agent we build includes

The boundaries matter as much as the capability.

  • A written list of what the agent may and may not do
  • Human approval steps for anything costly, public or irreversible
  • A log of every action it took and why, that you can read
  • Limits on how much it can do, spend or send in a given time
  • A clear hand-off to a person when it is unsure
  • Monitoring after launch, with a review of real cases

Cost and timeline

Scope and price are agreed in writing before work starts, and new projects start at $3,000 CAD. A focused agent for one job typically fits inside our usual window of 2 to 6 weeks from kickoff, with wider agent systems scoped separately. The work is done in-house in Toronto.

Questions we get asked

What is agentic AI?

It is AI that can take actions, not just produce text. An agentic system uses tools such as your calendar, email or database to complete a task, deciding the next step as it goes, and asking a person when it is unsure.

What is the difference between a chatbot and an agent?

A chatbot answers. An agent acts. A chatbot can tell a customer the available times, while an agent can check the calendar, book the slot, update your records and send the confirmation.

Is it safe to let an AI agent take actions?

It can be, with the right design. We give agents the least access that works, put approval steps in front of anything costly or hard to undo, log every action and start in a mode where the agent only suggests. We widen what it does only as it proves reliable.

How do I stay in control?

You decide the agent’s permissions, limits and approval rules, you can read a log of what it did and why, and you can narrow or switch off any ability at any time.

What systems can an agent connect to?

Commonly calendars, email, text messaging, forms, databases, payments and the software you already run. We confirm what is feasible and safe for your tools on the first call.

What can go wrong?

Agents can misread a situation, act on bad information or loop. That is why we limit access, require approval for risky steps, set rate limits, monitor behaviour and keep a human hand-off for anything unclear.

How much does it cost and how long does it take?

Scope and price are agreed in writing before work starts, and new projects start at $3,000 CAD. A focused agent typically fits inside 2 to 6 weeks from kickoff, and wider agent systems are scoped separately.
